The Structure of the Human Hair Follicle
This illustrated text by David A. Whiting, M.D. is designed to provide a three-dimensional view of the human hair follicle. Visualizing the human hair follicle at different levels and in different phases of the hair cycle demonstrates the correlation between vertical and horizontal sections. A working knowledge of the three-dimensional anatomy of the normal hair follicle simplifies the recognition of various changes or abnormalities that can occur in clinical or experimental situations in human scalp hair.
Dr. Whiting is Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Medical Director at the Baylor Hair Research and Treatment Center in Dallas.
