Dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe Featured on Good Morning America Utilizing NEXA® LT UV Capture for Melanoma Monday

Good Morning America’s Melanoma Monday segment featured Dr. Whitney Bowe, board-certified dermatologist and clinical assistant professor at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Well-known as the creator of the viral TikTok Skin Cycling method, Dr. Whitney Bowe frequently shares her 10+ years of expertise in skin health.

Unprotected exposure to the sun over time leads to visible signs of aging and is a contributor to the development of skin cancer[1]. UV spots on the skin develop because of the absorption of UV light by the epidermal melanin just below the skin surface. In this segment, Dr. Bowe shares the importance of skin cancer awareness and prevention including sun-safety measures.

To bring this concept to life, Dr. Bowe applied spray sunscreen to one side of the face and a topical cream to the other, to explore the difference in effectiveness between various types of sunscreen products. She then had a UV image taken with Canfield’s NEXA® LT Facial Imaging System, which provides high quality visualization of UV damage and sunblock coverage. The image below demonstrates how the correct product can provide significantly better UV protection and coverage.
